Socks and Sandals - Faux Pas or So Hot?

This debate has been going for some time now. Is it really ok to wear socks with sandals? We've seen looks like this on the likes of Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, and (I believe) The Hills/The City. Burberry has had the look on their runways in 2008, 2009, and 2010. So have Marni, Sonia Rykiel, Givenchy, and Dolce & Gabana during various seasons.
The look, when done right, can be very cute and trendy. I think there are, however, a few key things to remember when trying it out:

1. Stick with chunky sandals. Check out the ones below. Wedges are nice, and platform, or wooden heels are great too. Leave the dressy and skinny-strapped stillettos out of this.
2. This is really a casual look, not to be paired with evening attire. Fun sundresses, skirts, or pleated shorts work well with this.
3. It DOES matter which socks you choose. Unless you are a 2-year-old, a stripper, or a runway model, avoid the fold-over socks with the lace around them. Try a sheer sock in a tone matching the sandal, or a brightly colored one coordinating with your outfit.

Sex and the City Sequel Secrets!

Sex and the City Fans are looking eagerly towards the movie sequel which is scheduled to release May 2010. Here are some juicy leaked tidbits for us to ponder until then...

Always keeping with the times, the new Sex and the City movie will see Samantha Jones struggle for money. Not like you or I, of course, but the PR guru, played by Kim Cattrall, will struggle to curb her luxurious lifestyle and downsize her big-spending habits after some of her various investments are wiped out. She will have to make adjustments to live on a more modest budget, but will, of course, remain true to her fabulous taste. (According to http://www.theage.com/)

Apparently, Samantha won't be the only one to lose money. Mr. Big (Chris Noth) must move to London to take a job after his business in New York starts to undergo rough times. A source said: "The sequel will include key scenes of Carrie and Big in London, possibly shooting this winter for six weeks." I have read conflicting reports on Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) whereabouts, however, with one report stating that she will move to London with Big, and another reporting that he will be moving alone and living in a one bedroom apartment. What reports do agree on is that Big winds up straying with another woman during this tough time and that Carrie will discover soon thereafter that she is pregnant!

There may be a bump in working out this storyline though, as Chris Noth is the only character from the first film to have not yet signed on for the SATC sequel. (Yikes!) We certainly hope they can work it out.

Finally, The Insider reports that there is talk of Britney Spears signing on for the sequel as well to play a young relative of Carrie Bradshaw. Apparently, Sarah Jessica told friends: “My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show her the ropes.” I have my doubts about choosing Britney, but hey, it's all about buzz right? And speaking of buzz...why not add to that the possibility of Hip Hop Mogul and Sean John Designer Sean "P. Diddy" Combs being linked to the movie as well?? This is going to be very interesting...
